Everyone We Know: Exhibition Tour

Hip-hop outfit Thundamentals have today announced a special touring art exhibition which will celebrate the launch of their upcoming album “Everyone We Know” which will be released on Friday February 10th (through High Depth/Universal Music Australia)TitledEveryone We Know: Exhibition Tour”, the ARIA nominated band have engaged Sydney artist and graphic designer April 77 Creative to create a conceptual exhibition inspired by each track from the new album.  Each song will be represented by a different character or person which will make up the works of the 16 piece graphic art collection.

We’ve worked with April77 since day one. He almost feels like a part of the band and has always understood our message and vision – going above and beyond every time. For this particular release, early on we knew we wanted a character to represent each of the songs on the album. It was an incredible experience going back and forth, refining each aspect of the front cover. And furthermore it’s a blessing to have him on board for the book. Ben actually designed 15 individual environments for each character and we are so happy with how everything came out – a perfect visual pallet for the entire record! – says Thundamentals MC Tuka.

April77 Creative aka Ben Funnell has been involved in the creative process of all the artwork for the groups previous album and EP releases and most notably the album Art Direction and Cover Design for their highly acclaimed “So We Can Remember” and “Everyone We Know” albums.

Speaking on the “Everyone We Know” artwork series, April77’s Ben Funnell says - “The theme for ’Everyone We Know’ is about people and ‘connectivity’ which we found really inspiring. We also felt a strong sense of diversity across each track on the LP in terms of subject matter and sonics. Our visual answer to this was to embrace and celebrate the diversity of Thundamentals fan base and friends – but rather than go with a literal representation of this broad demographic we aimed to really illuminate these differences by creating a series of hybrid human/alien/animal characters, all standing together. Each character was inspired by a different track on the LP. Some are more literal representations than others but there are many references to key lyrics and themes that stood out to us throughout. We hope that the artwork is enjoyed while listening to the album and the audience takes the time to uncover these references, as well as search for their own meaning and connection to the music and visual as a whole.”

The Everyone We Know: Exhibition Tour” will travel around to all capital cities starting in Melbourne on Monday Feb 6th at The Church of Bang Bang Boogaloo and finishing in Perth on Thursday Feb 16th (venue tbc). FREE for EVERYONE to enter, venue capacity will be capped so best to arrive early. While viewing each work, music and art lovers will be able to hear songs from the “Everyone We Know” album as well as purchase a limited edition bundle which includes a numbered high quality print of their favourite artwork and a copy of the new CD. Each night Thundamentals will be putting on an after party – DJing with a line-up of special guests.

“Everyone We Know: Exhibition Tour” will launch Thundamentals self-produced album “Everyone We Know” which features the singles Ignorance Is Bliss, Never Say Never and the crossover radio track Think About It feat. Peta & The Wolves.  Recorded at the studio of good friends Hermitude in Sydney’s inner suburbs, the 15 track release hits new heights not only for the band but for hip-hop in general and features a cast of friends including  guests Peta and the Wolves, Hilltop Hoods and Thundamentals previous collaborators Mataya and Laneous.

Blue Mountains via Newtown hip-hop heroes Thundamentals, have emerged from the studio with a brand new offering in the form of their latest single ‘Never Say Never’ and a huge slew of tour dates to boot. The single was premiered on Triple J’s Good Nights and fans were not disappointed.

I guess the song is kinda about making the most of the cards that life deals you. Maintaining confidence and self belief in the face of adversity. So what you drive a 94′ Corolla? Chuck some rims on that banger and fang some bloody laps mate!! Jeswon explains.

Fresh off the back of performing to massive arena crowds across Australia and New Zealand with Macklemore x Ryan Lewis, Thundamentals will head out on the road for a bunch of live shows from October to December for their Never Say Never tour! This marks their first headline run since their massive sold out Elephant In The Room Tour last year, which took them around the country for 25 shows and performing to almost 20,000 Thundakats.

An all encompassing and energetic live show. It’s equal parts style and substance with Jeswon and Tuka throwing their bodies across the stage one moment then delivering eloquent rapid-fire bars the next. It’s almost alarming how at home Thundamentals are on an arena stage – David James Young, The Brag

The Never Say Never Tour will see the band showcase a brand new live show and debut a collection of brand new material along with songs from their entire catalogue.

We can’t wait to road test new material on this tour, we’ll be playing a bunch of songs for the first time ever” Tuka has said of the upcoming tour.

Supports for this auspicious undertaking are heavy hitters in their own right. Australian Hip Hop stalwart PEZ is making his live return after 2 years locked away working on his follow up to the 2008 album ‘A Mind Of My Own’. Sharing warm up duties is teenage up & comer MC Mallrat on her debut national tour – no stranger to topping the Hype Machine charts, these will be her debut shows in many markets and just after her 18th birthday.

Four releases deep and coming off their celebrated 2014 album ‘So We Can Remember’, Thundamentals live show has become a force to be reckoned with. Thundakats be warned to get in quick as tickets won’t last.
